Dr. Leroy Myers Jr, Managing Editor

Dr. Leroy Myers Jr. received his PhD in History from the University of Oklahoma in 2021. His areas of specialization are African American and Native American History. He is pleased to be working at the Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly & and Creative Activity (URSCA). At URSCA he is a co-instructor of the Mellon Humanities Collaboratory, a program bringing visiting students from community colleges to Hopkins to conduct and present research in the humanities.

Shalima Wellington, Editor

Shalima Wellington is a PhD candidate in the English Department at Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on 20th-century African American and Afro-Caribbean immigrant literature. She currently serves as the Graduate Assistant in JHU’s Office of Undergraduate Scholarly Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity. Prior to coming to JHU, she taught in the SEEK program at the City University of New York. She also holds a B.A. in English and Spanish from Agnes Scott College and an M.A. in English Literature from Fordham University.

Natalie Wang, Editor

Natalie Wang joined the Macksey Journal in October 2023 as an editor. She is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University studying English, Film & Media Studies, and Writing Seminars. Aside from her editing role, Natalie serves as president of the English Club, Editor-in-Chief of undergraduate literary & arts magazines Out of the Blue Jay and Zeniada, Writing Center Tutor for the University Writing Program, staff writer and showrunner for the Film & Media Studies Department’s Writers Room, and oral history transcriptionist for the Berman Institute of Bioethics. She is also currently conducting two research projects as a Dean’s Undergraduate Research Award (DURA) Fellow on archival materials in the Sheridan Libraries Special Collections.

Madison Sousa, Editor

Madison Sousa joined the Macksey Journal in October 2024 as an editor. She is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University studying Public Health. Aside from her editing role she has worked as a student worker in the Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity since June 2023, where she has helped the office with a variety of administrative duties. She is also the Vice President of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. and a member of the JHU Women’s Club Soccer Team. She is currently conducting research on gun policy for her Honors in Public Health Thesis.

Caroline Zuba, Editor

Caroline Zuba joined the Macksey Journal in February 2025 as an editor. She is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University studying Psychology, Philosophy, and minoring in Bioethics. Aside from her editing role, Caroline is employed as a College Contact mentor, volunteers for World Relief in the sector of refugee resettlement, is a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line, is an apprentice for the Christian fellowship group InterVarsity, and partakes in discipleship with Young Life Baltimore County middle schoolers. She is also conducting qualitative research in the field of forensic psychology. As a part of the NIH Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS) Study, she is researching the stigma that formerly incarcerated men experience as they re-enter society. Regarding the Alabama Juvenile Prison Mental Health Outcomes Study, she is analyzing risk assessment data before and after juvenile incarceration in addition to uncovering ethno-racial and defense category disparities.

Veronica Jung, Editor

Veronica Jung joined the Macksey Journal in February 2025 as an editor. She is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University studying English and Neuroscience. Aside from her editing role, Veronica works as a writing center tutor and is currently conducting drug receptor research and fMRI narrative recall research. She also volunteers at The Book Thing and is involved with A Place to Talk and the Hopkins Ballet Company.
